City of Secrets – One Woman’s True-life Journey to the Heart of the Grail Legend

By Patrice Chaplin.

336 Pages | First Quest edition 2008 | Softcover | Quest Books, U.S.A. | ISBN: 9780835608718.

City of Secrets is, perhaps, the very first nonfiction title to combine the stories of the legendary Grail phenomenon with that of a modern-day love story.

In 1955, fifteen-year-old Patrice flees her predictable English life for sun-drenched Girona, a pre-Roman town in northern Spain. There, she falls in love with José, whose mission is to preserve the town’s ancient Caballistic tradition. Over the years, Patrice returns again and again to her lover and Girona. She meets enthralling characters and hears of visions, an oddly wealthy priest, a fabulous garden owned by a Frenchwoman, and two towers aligned to create a portal to another dimension. The priest is no other than the Abbé Saunière of Rennes-le-Château, and the mysteries linked to him are at the heart of the Grail phenomenon. People Patrice thought she knew well turn out to belong to a secret society guarding Saunière’s legacy. Now it is time, they say, to reveal their secrets, and they ask her to be the messenger.

In support of her revelations, Patrice provides copies of previously unreleased letters, written by Saunière, along with other documented evidence. Her romantic and lucid writing style, which has often been compared to Beat Generation legend Jack Kerouac, will leave readers with no doubt that this book is one-of-a-kind.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Patrice first went to the ancient Spanish town of Girona in 1955 as a fifteen-year-old girl. She fell in love with the town and with Jose, its favorite son. Over the years, as she returns again and again, she sees and hears many unusual things: people talking about a wealthy priest named Abbé Saunière of Rennes-le-Château, an old house with an amazing garden owned by a mysterious Frenchwoman, a strange ceremony in this house, and several intriguing characters, including Jean Cocteau. Later, in 2003, Patrice finally starts to make sense of everything she has seen. Her lifelong friend and former lover, Jose, has a heart attack, and decides it’s time to reveal the secrets he has been guarding from the world. She learns that a private society has for generations held Saunière’s letters and documents after his death in 1917. She also learns Jose has been the society’s custodian for many years. Jose tells Patrice the secret is not in Rennes-le-Château and that it is now her duty to discover the rest. Patrice Chaplin is an internationally renowned playwright and author who has published more than 25 books, plays, and short stories. Her most notable work includes Albany Park, Siesta, which was made into a film staring Jodi Foster and Isabella Rossellini, Into the Darkness Laughing, Hidden Star, Night Fishing, and Death Trap.

By Coulson Turnbull (1864 – xxxx).

253 Pages | Photo copy of the original 1898 edition | A4 Softcover | Kessinger Publications LCC, Montana U.S.A. | ISBN: 1564596923.

Dedicated in humility

  • To those who have watched the terrestrial  transformations and eruptions, have asked for Why, and have received None.
  • To those who, tired and home-weary, in a long and slow Journey , have yearned and sought for Justice and found her not.
  • Tho those, who have suffered, as humans suffer waiting in Faith for liberation.
  • To those hearts, who in Faith and Patience have mystic-wise found a golden thread so delicate, so strong, delicate as human frailty, yet strong to draw the tossed and home-weary from out the ocean’s tempest to the Harbor of Light, from out of the dark ocean’s tempest to the Light, divine in its cheer.
  • To men and woman, Regenerate, to the Illumined Ones.

The Idyll of the White Lotus

By Mabel Collins (1851-1927), with an explanation by Swami T. Subba Row (1856 – 1890).

206 Pages | First edition 1884, 2nd to 9th reprint 1896 – 1973, second edition 2000 | Softcover | Theosophical Publishing House, Adyar | ISBN: 8170593999.

Dutch translation: De Idylle van de Witte Lotus | Ankh-Hermes | ISBN: 9789020255409.

This tale of a young seer in a decadent temple in Ancient Egypt is at once gripping and profound. It depicts the evolution of a Soul from weakness to strength, from ignorance to insight – a pure but unthinking child becomes a wise messenger.

From the Prologue:

” Behold, I stood alone, one among many, an isolated individual in the midst of a united crowd. And I was alone, because among the all the men my brethren, who knew, I alone was the man who both knew and taught. I taught the believers at the gate, and was driven to do this by the power dwelled in the sanctuary. I had no escape, for in that deep darkness of the most sacred shrine, I beheld the light of the inner life and was driven to reveal it, and by it was upheld and made strong. For indeed, although I died, it took ten priests of the temple to accomplish my death, and even then they but ignorantly thought themselves powerful. “

The Blossom and the Fruit – A True Story of a Black Magician

By Mabel Collins (1851-1927).

332 Pages | Facsimile edition of the original 1890 publication | Softcover | Kessinger Publications LCC, Montana U.S.A. | ISBN: 1564597032.

‘Only – One facet of the stone, One ray of the star, One petal of the flower of life, But the one that stands outermost and faces us who are men and women’.

This strange story has come from a far country and was brought in a mysterious manner; we claim only to be the scribes and the editors. We therefore ask that the reader will accept the theory of the reincarnation of Souls as a fact.

From the Introduction (p. 16):

” At last Wild Blossom’s Soul woke from its sleep, satiated; the hunger returned to gnaw at her heart; the longing to know reasserted itself. Holding tight the hand she held in hers, she sprang from the soft couch on which she lay. Then, for the first time, she noticed that the ground was so soft and pleasant, because there, where she had lain, had drifted great heaps of the fallen fruit blossoms. “
