' Splash! Bundle! Splay! Seesaw! Bucket! Bowl! Locomotive! What have these words with Astrology'?

Marc Edmund Jones, author of eight major published works of astrological significance, a member of the American Federation of Astrologers, called by many the 'dean of American astrologers', quickly recognized the need for a work on planetary patterns in perceiving the 'whole view' of a horoscope. 'Splash! Bundle! Splay!' etc. are words that most accurately represent these different patterns. The Guide to Horoscope Interpretation presents the author's many original thoughts on this facet of astrology. Twenty-eight horoscopes are delineated, and basic points of interpretation are provided for forty-four others.

From the Opening Chapter - 'What is a Horoscope'? (p. ix):

" For those unfamiliair with the technicalities, a brief introduction may be helpful. The earth has two primary motions in the heavens, or its rotation on its axis once a day and its journey around its orbit annually. Two two great circles so established are brought together to make the horoscopic wheel. Each of them is divided into twelve equal parts represented in the diagram by pie-shaped areas of indication. The ones created by the faster or daily motion are the houses, and they are commonly represented by printed lines in the horoscope. The ones similarly marked off in the earth's orbit, commonly known as the Zodiac, are the familiair signs beginning with Aries and running through Pisces. Because the two great circles do not lie in the same heavenly plane, they lean away from each other and this fact permits the fundamental charting of variety in human individuality. And then the further fact that the houses are marked off in their circle from the position in the heavens of the terrestrial horizon at birth enormously increases the possibilities of horoscopic variations. Because it would be confusing to show the areas of indication of both circles by actual lines of boundary in the horoscopic wheels, astrologers note the corresponding zodiacal sign and degree at the beginning of each house from the horizon at the left and as the signs rise clockwise.
